This Social Story Bundle: Drills at School contains the following social stories:
1) What to do When There is a Fire Drill - The highlights of what it teaches are: a brief statement as to why we have fire drills, descriptions of the steps to follow during a fire drill, and it also talks about hearing the bell and acknowledging that it is loud but that it will be okay. Accompanying this are two associated smaller visual supports that can be used by the student during the fire drill and/or to be sent home for parents to review with student. They are a shortened version of the social story broken down into 5 steps.
2) What to do When There is a Lockdown Drill - The highlights of what it teaches are: descriptions of the steps to follow during a lockdown drill which consists of going to a safe place within the classroom where they will need to be quiet and wait until it is over. There are also two associated smaller visual supports that can be used by the student during the lockdown drill and/or to be sent home for parents to review with student. They are a shortened version of the social story broken down into 4 steps.
3) What to do When There is a Tornado Drill - The highlights of what it teaches are: descriptions of the steps to follow during a tornado drill which includes leaving the classroom and relocating to a different location within the building. This also comes with two associated smaller visual supports that can be used by the student during the tornado drill and/or to be sent home for parents to review with student. They are a shortened version of the social story broken down into 5 steps.
These are geared more towards students in Pre-K through 5th grade, however depending on the cognitive level of the student, they may be appropriate for older ages. While these were originally designed for students with special needs, I have had many teachers request copies to use - especially for Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grades - as they have found them to be extremely helpful for teaching these drills to all the children in their class.
While the total pages of this entire document is 8, each social story is only 1 page in length with an additional page for each that contains the smaller shortened accompanying visuals.

In opening this store, I did a lot of research to ensure that the use of any graphics, clip art, pictures, etc. in my products would not violate any sort of copyright infringement and/or licensing regulations. With that being said, this is the reason that for social stories, visuals, etc. being sold in my store, you will not see me using any Boardmaker images. While Boardmaker is a wonderful tool, their policy regarding selling products using their icons is too unclear for my comfort. In contacting them directly, multiple times, I received varying responses as to what their policy specifically is. In addition, I do not personally own a copy of Boardmaker. The only access I have ever had to Boardmaker, has been through my employers. There are very specific federal licensing and piracy laws that specifically address it being illegal to use software purchased by your employer for any sort of personal use, gain, and/or profit. I do understand that many people like their visuals, social stories, etc. icons to be consistent with Boardmaker as that is the most widely used PCS (picture communication symbols) however due to all of the above, I have done my best in the materials I have created to find icons/pictures that are similar or as close to Boardmaker images as possible. While they may not be the exact same, I do think the icons/pictures I use are still of great quality. Since I am not an attorney, nor do I ever want to have to hire one over concerns about copyright infringement, licensing, and/or piracy violations - protecting myself by using images that are royalty-free is the safest choice for me.
