Social Story: Fire Drill!
Fire Drills can be scary and chaotic...and that's for teachers! They are loud and involve a lot of movement. For our kids in elementary school, and especially our students on the Autism spectrum, fire drills can cause some serious anxiety. This social story addresses the fire drill, and breaks it down into short segments, that helps to show students what to expect during a fire drill, and what they are expected to do. As a teacher, our goal is to keep our kids safe, and this social story will help you teach your students the rules and routines that need to be followed during a fire drill. This resource could also be very helpful for parents, as it helps them to teach their students the correct way to react to a fire drill.
I have included a large teacher copy that you can easily use with the whole class, and a small copy designed for students. There are two blank pages included, where you can have the kids draw a picture of themselves during the fire drill, or how they felt during the fire drill.
I hope that you enjoy this social story and find it helpful. Please leave a review letting me know what you thought, and if there is any way to make the product more effective.
