This social story is a great read
for students who may need some support and help when dealing with a fire alarm. This social story will discuss the importance of why we have fire alarms and how to behave during one.
Many students with autism are visual learners and like to learn through seeing something in action. This book comes complete with matching, simple yet engaging graphics to help describe what is being said on the page.
Comes in col option only - no b/w availability, however you can print in grayscale.
Pages included are;
♦ When there’s a fire drill, the alarm will ring loudly.
♦ We have fire drills to help us prepare in case there is ever a real fire.
♦ The alarm will be noisy and it might hurt my ears.
♦ I should stay calm and follow my teacher’s instructions.
♦ My teacher will help me to get outside of the building safely.
♦ When the fire alarm goes off, the fire brigade are called and they come straight away.
♦ Firefighters wear special clothes and equipment so if there is a fire, they can go inside and help people.
♦ Firefighters also have special equipment on their fire engine to put out fires.
♦ Nobody is allowed back inside the building until we know it is safe and no fire.
♦ The firefighters will tell our teachers when it is safe, who will let us back in.
♦ I must remember not to panic when there is a fire alarm.
♦ By staying calm, everyone will be safe.
♦ Fire drills are important because it will help us prepare for an emergency.
I recommend printing out each of the individual pages, laminating them and then binding them into a book so it will be easier for students to read - or be read to, as well as being stronger and longer lasting.
