Product Description
This social story is a great read for students who may need some support and help maintaining a healthy diet and knowing what food choices to make. This social story will hopefully encourage readers to consider making healthy choices when choosing foods and how their food choices can affect their bodies.

Many students with autism are visual learners and like to learn through seeing something in action. This book comes complete with matching, simple yet engaging graphics to help describe what is being said on the page.

♦ Eating healthy is important for our bodies.
♦ Eating healthy will help us have a strong heart and teeth.
♦ Junk food might taste nice, but if you eat too much it’s not good for you.
♦ It contains lots of sugar which is bad for your teeth.
♦ Too much sugar on your teeth can cause cavities or even lose your teeth!
♦ Eating too much unhealthy food can also make you gain weight.
♦ Eating too much junk food can make your stomach hurt or feel sick.
♦ Many people try to eat 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day.
♦ Each day you should try to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.
♦ It is important to try make healthy choices when choosing snacks.
♦ You could have a small treat now and again but only a small amount.
♦ If you are hungry between meals you could try eating fruit or popcorn.
♦ There are 5 food groups which I should try to eat from; vegetables, fruits, proteins, grains and dairy.
♦ Vegetables are foods like carrots, broccoli, peas and cauliflower.
♦ Fruit are foods like apples, bananas, oranges and strawberries.
♦ Proteins are foods like meat (chicken) and nuts.
♦ Grains are foods like bread, crackers and cereals.
♦ Dairy is foods like milk, yogurt and cheese.
♦ ‘Junk foods’ are foods like chocolate, sweets, burgers and fries.
♦ If I am full, I don’t have to eat everything on my plate. I can throw it away.
♦ Here are some healthy ideas for me to eat at snack times.
