Wanting something does not mean TAKING it without permission is OK. This is a common developmental challenge for young children. Use this Social Story to help them understand we ask first!
Children relate to Social Stories. They are a fun way to teach social skills. Each story presents a problem AND a solution.
Print and fold these Little Books as many times as you like (Folding instructions included). Send a copy home so parents can read it with their child and reinforce your efforts in school. If a copy is damaged, print another. Collect an assortment of these little social story books. Create a LITTLE LIBRARY and allow your students to read the books whenever they like.
You can even LAMINATE the books so they will survive even the most challenging students! (See the FAQ included for hints on how to do this.)
Some teachers keep a box of LITTLE books in their time out area. While in Time Out, children are encouraged to find the LITTLE book that refers to their behavior.
