This social story is designed to promote social thinking and awareness by teaching students the difference between thinking and talking. It clearly and simply explains each concept and asks the question, "How will I know if it is okay to talk?" The student is encouraged to look at other people to see what they are doing. Additionally, the teacher may help the student know by showing a picture cue card. Four visual cue card supports are included. These may be cut out and laminated for use in group settings to remind students of the prior direct instruction. These resources are intended to bring the student to greater independence with social behavior as he/she learns to be aware of self and what other people in the group are doing.
