PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Kayden can’t lose like a good sport and Wilma can’t win gracefully! Good sportsmanship is hard, especially for competitive children. In this social story, Coach teaches the kids how to be a good sport when winning AND losing. Whether playing a board game with friends, an activity in class, an organized sport on the field, or a made-up game on the playground … children will learn how to be a good winner and a good loser a.k.a. how to be a good sport.

Recommendations for using this unit:
Instructional Social Story: Print and put in a sleeve protector. Keep your book in a three-ring binder. Print 4 or 6 slides per page then cut and staple to create mini books. Looks great in color or grayscale!
Classroom wall posters: post somewhere visible to remind your student even when you are not around or print 4/page, laminate, and use as a desk or locker card. Send home to provide continuity in strategies being taught. Print multiple times!!! Prompt the student to read before starting to play a game or activity.
Award certificate: use to reward students for mastering this skill and to communicate growth with parents.
Coupon: hand these coupons out to all of the student’s teachers to encourage the student to use the skill in multiple settings. Catch your student being a good winner or good loser give them an immediate extrinsic reward. This is great positive feedback for the student to bring home!
Check-Ins: use after the student has played a game to help them self-evaluate their actions to determine if they showed good sportsmanship or poor sportsmanship. Collect and use this data to write or update their IEP and Behavior Intervention Plan.
