Recommendations for using this unit:
Instructional Social Story:
Print and put in a sleeve protector. Keep your book in a three-ring binder. Print 4 or 6 slides per page then cut and staple to create mini books. Looks great in color or grayscale!
Personalized Social Story:
Print this full size (one slide per 8.5x11) for students to have adequate room to write their thoughts and feelings in the blanks of the story.
Classroom wall posters:
post somewhere visible to remind your student even when you are not around or print 4/page, laminate, and use as a desk card. Send home to provide continuity in strategies being taught. Print multiple times!!!
Choice Boards & Posters:
Different strategies work for different students that’s why we provided 16 different choices and a blank board for you to truly tailor this to your student. Print in black/white to save money!
use to reward students for achieving their goal (found on the daily and weekly charts) and communicate growth with parents.
Analyze your student’s anger by learning the triggers and techniques that make them tick and tick them off! Keep this data with you’re A-B-C logs and use for FBAs (Functional Behavior Assessments)
Stay Calm Self-Evaluation:
Use this scale to teach a child to self-monitor. Ask the child to point to where they are on the scale then coach them back to calm with their choice board or other strategies. It’s important to use this when the child is completely calm and really angry too so they can associate those feelings with the cues on the self-eval scale.
Staying Calm Chart:
Use this to collect data on a daily or weekly basis. Use this to create an attainable goal and to track progress. Give copies to all your student’s teachers or create a traveling clipboard to collect data in multiple environments.
Use this as a guide to record incidents. Record the antecedents (date, time, setting, and trigger). Then record the target behavior. This should only be used to collect data on the target behavior. Then record the Consequences and their effect.
