This is a social story about students laughing at inappropriate times, specifically when a student is acting like a "class clown" and the other students are encouraging him/her by laughing. Some students need to be explicitly taught about their feelings and when it is appropriate to, for example, laugh at a joke verses laugh at a student disrupting the teaching and learning in the classroom by cracking jokes. This story teaches children to recognize when it is appropriate to laugh and when in the school setting it is not. My fifth grade inclusion class read this story I created after an incident with one of our troublesome students. I was shocked how well this story caused many of my students to reflect on their behavior and how it impacted their learning!
