I created this Social Story for students that struggle with accepting recess when it has ended. While students with Autism respond favorably to Social Stories, any student will benefit from this Social Story as well. I recommend displaying the Social Story on an overhead/projector and reading it aloud to the entire class, preferably during morning circle time. About 5 minutes before it is time to transition to recess, read the Social Story to any students that struggle with accepting recess is over. If the student/s can read, you can also remind the student/s to read the Social Story to themselves. In the beginning of introducing and using this Social Story, I also recommend having the Social Story with you when it is time to exit recess (to once again read and show any struggling students). I have used this and have been successful with it.
