This is the NEW and UPDATED (in 2017) 18 slide PPT which teaches and reinforces the topic of Social Structure for Sociology class.
The PPT begins with a quote from William Shakespeare and allows for discussion on its meaning and application to the topic.
The PPT then moves onto defining Social Structure before moving onto a graphic organizer which defines and gives simple explanations of the following:
- Ascribed Status
- Achieved Status
- Status Set
- Master Status
- Role Conflict
- Role Strain
The PPT then discusses Role Performance, Social Interaction, and Social Relationships.
Next the PPT discusses various theories and research regrading Social Interaction including Social Construction of Reality, Erving Goffman and Dramaturgy, the Thomas Theorem, and Ethnomethodology.
The PPT ends with with a flow chart which starts with Culture and goes to Social Structure. and then a graphic organizer that discusses how the three theoretical perspectives analyze Social Structure.
This is a great PPT for the unit of study on Social Structure and pairs well with a Formative Assessment and Application Activity which is available in my TPT store and titled: Social Structure Formative Assessment.
