The following is a 8 slide PPT which teaches and reinforces the topic of Social Structure for Sociology class.
The PPT begins with a quote from William Shakespeare and allows for discussion on its meaning and application to the topic.
The PPT then moves onto defining Social Structure before moving onto a graphic organizer which defines and gives simple explanations of the following:
- Ascribed Status
- Achieved Status
- Status Set
- Master Status
- Role Conflict
- Role Strain
After the graphic organizer the PPT asks students to apply each term to themselves. This allows for you the teacher to move about the room evaluating the students application to themselves and taking questions.
The PPT ends Role Performance and Social Interaction before ending with a flow chart which starts with Culture and goes to Social Structure.
This is a great PPT for the unit of study on Social Structure and pairs well with a Formative Assessment and Application Activity which is available in my TPT store and titled: Social Structure Formative Assessment Activity.
