In this DBQ ("How Can Citizens Peacefully Change a Nation?") students will learn about peaceful strategies used during the Civil Rights Movement as they analyze primary sources and engage in rich discussions about citizenship with their classmates. When they have finished their analyses, there is a graphic organizer to help them organize their thoughts and prepare to write a response to the question.
A step-by-step guide to teaching with DBQs will help those who are new to this shift in social studies as well as provide a new spin on the process for those who are experienced!
In this DBQ, students will:
• Summarize primary resources and explain their historical importance
• Identify and summarize significant changes that have been made to the United States Constitution through the amendment process
• Explain how good citizenship can solve a current issue
An accompanying assessment is available in my store!
