In my experience with our social studies core I found it a bit challenging to make sure I had covered each standard in depth and review was also difficult. As a result, a couple of years ago I created my own “Social Studies Journal” that included all areas of my Utah State Core so that I could easily cover each and review them easily as well. I have found it very useful and have positive feedback from other teachers I have shared it with.
I have broken it up into four main categories: Culture (including "All About Me," family, friends, and home), Citizenship 01 (including community signs and helpers), Citizenship 02 (including American symbols), Geography (including mapping), and Financial Literacy (including money, wants, and needs.) I did this so, depending upon your state’s core curriculum, you can pick and choose the areas that fit your needs best. I also did not number pages, so that you can use them in any order you wish or combine them with what you already use. The section you have purchased is Citizenship 01, if you like what you see please look into purchasing the remainder of this workbook.
I have included student examples, pictures, and explanations of how each page is completed. As I make changes for my students I will create, fix, and upload for you to re-download. (If you are like me, each year I always find something I’d like to change up.)
Thank you so much for your purchase and I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have!
