Description: This is a unit of study covering world cultures from a historical viewpoint and from a modern day slant. Various activities are designed to appeal to the multiple intelligences present in the classroom, hopefully reaching each student’s basic learning style.

Lesson Plan: Japan Thematic Unit
Subject: Social Studies and others
Grade: 6-9

Description: This is a thematic unit on the country of Japan. This unit will incorporate the subjects of Social Studies, Language Arts, Art, Drama, Music, Home Economics, Computer Technology, Physical Endurance, and Language. In this unit we will study several aspects of Japan and the way of life in Japan in the past and in the present. How is life different for the people of Japan? What makes Japan so unique? This unit incorporates several assignments (16 outlined) for the students to perform. The instructor could choose to pick several or do all of the assignments. This is left up to the individual instructor. If the instructor were to do all these assignments, it would take approximately 8-10 weeks, at the minimum. There are a variety of assignments for the instructor to choose from and use for this unit.
