This resource was born out of necessity. I wanted to show a dystopian movie with my social studies class and couldn't find an open-ended and creative guide for my struggling students AND my honors kids. So I made one! I'd love to share it with you.
This guide asks questions about the plot and characters but also have questions that connect to your students (how are you and the character named ________ similar? Different? Would you want to live in this setting? Why or why not?) and your social studies classroom (what is an enduring issue in this film? How is backstory or context important in this film?). It also has a short drawing activity. My ENL students love it as much as my honors kids. And I love it because it opens the entire world of film into my classroom!
