This "Hollywood Squares-style" review game* will enrich and supplement the way a Social Studies unit is reinforced in the classroom.
The game provides the teacher with an effective method of review that allows the students to play against each other in pairs, while motivating them not only to use their acquired knowledge and be challenged by it, but also to have fun with it.
A great asset for any middle-school Social Studies program that will simplify the review process for the teacher and significantly increase the enthusiasm of your students in class; so be prepared!
*Two-player "X & O" game. Player 1 chooses a "celebrity"; views the question and the celebrity's response. Agree or disagree with celebrity's answer, then proceed. If correct, Player 1 places their "X" or "O" in the box and play passes to Player 2. Continue thus.
- Put the game on a public server in a folder for your subject/class (eg. Social Studies 8)
- Students play one-on-one against each other using one computer between them with which they can access the game through the public server (this is especially effective if there are a number of variations of the game that review the overall theme, say, Renaissance).
