This product is designed to complement, enhance, or enrich the lessons you are already teaching during American Indian Heritage Month. Each of the five centers included here can stand alone from each other, but should not stand alone as the only source of instruction or information about this topic. Before you allow students to work in these stations, be sure you have established the routines outlined in the starter kit.
Read about it: This text is leveled to be used with on-level 2nd graders. Scaffolding and other supports may be necessary for lower readers or language learners.
Write about it: You can choose for students to answer this prompt in a journal or on a separate piece of paper. There is a larger version of the prompt as well as smaller versions which can be glued into notebooks.
Fab Vocab: Students only need a pencil to complete this center, but can choose to color their drawings if you wish.
Map Genius: Prep is required for this center. Print the regions map (color is best), and laminate for durability. Students will need access to a political U.S. map or atlas.
Game Time: Prep is required for this center. Print and prepare the dice according to the page directions. Each student will need a copy of the bingo board. This game is best played after students have some knowledge of Native Americans.
