Be sure to download the starter kit for the SSWC for free in my store! It is necessary to use this product to its full capacity.
This product is designed to complement, enhance, or enrich the lessons you are already teaching about culture before delving in to specific cultures of the world. Each of the five centers included here can stand alone from each other, but should not stand alone as the only source of instruction or information about this topic. Before you allow students to work in these stations, be sure you have established the routines outlined in the starter kit.
Read about it: This text is leveled to be used with on-level 3rd graders. Scaffolding and other supports may be necessary for lower readers or language learners.
Write about it: You can choose for students to answer this prompt in a journal or on a separate piece of paper. There is a larger version of the prompt as well as smaller versions which can be glued into notebooks.
Fab Vocab: Prep is required for this center. Print and cut the memory match game cards. I recommend printing on card stock and laminating for future use. Students will need to know how to play a basic memory match game.
Map Genius: Prep is required for this center. Cut out the traditional foods with the labels included. Laminate for durability. Students may need access to an atlas, a set of encyclopedias, or an electronic source to be able to look up the traditional foods of specific cultures.
Game Time: Prep is required for this center. Print the puzzles and cut into individual pieces. Laminate for durability.
