You won’t believe the value in this Civil War lesson that costs a mere $1. The name of it is “How and Why the Civil War Began." The lesson explains reasons that caused the war and events that happened as the momentum towards war increased. There is also Information about President Lincoln included as well as the attack on Fort Sumter. After 2 pages of clear informational text, there are 34 questions. The first 12 are vocabulary questions. The next 13 are short answer questions dealing with details and causes and effects of the war. The last 9 questions are classifying questions. With the third set of questions, students read each statement, and then decide if it applies to the North or South. They label each with an N for North and S for South. Besides classifying and application, reading skills include locating details, making inferences, and determining causes and effects. The taught and tested vocabulary words are: quarrel, slavery, goods, tax, union, secede, civil, border, blockade, emancipate, declare, and preserve. Along with the text and questions, you get answer key and 2 drawings. One drawing has Confederate gray and Union blue hats.
