This assignment was created for my advanced level painting or drawing course, but can also be used as an Advanced Placement Art breadth piece. For the project students are asked to research and express an opinion about a current event through a figurative drawing and painting.
This pack includes the presentation I use introduce the project to my students. The PowerPoint has project info, an artist exemplar, examples of figurative artwork, a class discussion of the politically driven painting, Guernica, by Picasso, and information on how to start and finish the assignment.
In addition to the PowerPoints, this also includes an in-depth lesson plan, complete with supplies, resources, implementation, a rubric, homework/sketchbook assignment, critique sheet, how to display worksheet, and national standards.
I include PowerPoint, Word docx, and PDFs of all my resources in one convenient zip file.
**If using for AP Art, cut the timeline in half to a week and a half, rather than 3, to complete the assignment.**
