This web quest centers around the classic anthropological satire “Body Rituals of the Nacirema.” The satire and the film clips and reading in the web quest encourage sociology, anthropology, or cultural studies students to apply cultural relativism as opposed to ethnocentrism when studying unfamiliar cultures.
The final step in this web quest reveals who the Nacirema are and encourages students to begin making “the strange familiar and the familiar strange.”
