A sociology course about social inequalities should address the difficult topic of Hate Groups. This activity should be approached with great care, however. I always preface it by saying that we are not glorifying these groups or their symbols. This activity is designed to help students understand inequalities by researching the history, background, and activities of various hate groups in the U.S.
This activity is editable so that you can customize it. You get:
☑ A rubric with a link and QR Code to The Southern Poverty Law Center
☑ A note sheet to plan research
☑ Group selection cards
☑ A sheet for previewing other student’s posters
☑ A reflection sheet
☑ An exit ticket
This is also included in these resources:
➪ Sociology Complete Curriculum Mega Bundle
➪ Sociology and Social Inequalities Interactive Notebook Bundle
