Product Description

My Summative project on the Unit on Culture has students develop their own unique written language in this Step-By-Step guide. Students will create this unique language from the "ground-up" starting with a unique alphabet, dictionary, grammar rules, sentence order ,etc. Then, they will be tasked with writing at least a paragraph in their own language.

After making their own language, one of their peers will be randomly assigned their project and be forced to translate. In a debrief, the class will discuss the impact and importance of translation, what it teaches about cultural differences and contact, and how culture affects both language and perception of other cultures and their languages through the difficulties many students will experience in their translation.

This is a great STEAM project students never forget!
