Product Description
I use this assignment during my stratification unit of Sociology (stratification of education to be specific). Students research 4 different schools and record the proper information regarding race, income status, graduation rate, ACT scores and other data regarding schools. The schools can very easily be altered for different schools than the four I included; luckily, the website I provide at the top of this assignment gives extensive information about the schools throughout the state of Illinois. The first school I included is the school I teach at, Williamsville High School, the second school is Harper High School, a Chicago Public School, the third school they have a choice of any of the public high schools in Springfield because it is a diverse city and very near their high school, and the last school is also a choice between two Chicago suburban schools (one was featured on Oprah’s Trading schools tv segment; I also show that clip which is available on YouTube).
