This is a 2 page document that includes a very clear breakdown of the goals and expectations for a Socratic Seminar as well as a peer-evaluation rubric for students to use during the seminar. There is no guiding topic for the seminar, so feel free to manipulate this to provide students with more guidance for your discussion.
This is great for AP or IB courses to help students engage in a thoughtful discussion. The peer evaluation rubric is a great way to keep students accountable for participating in the discussion. I usually pass out the rubrics randomly so that students don't know who is evaluating them.
I use this as a great way to finish up a novel unit! Students respond well the rubric and understand what's expected of them! You can use this as a fishbowl discussion or a whole class discussion.
