This is one of the most engaging activities that I do with my students!
Using the principles of the Socratic Method, students argue controversial issues, policies, etc. Students are divided into two large groups, and they rotate in and out of the circle throughout three rounds. During each round, the inner circle argues the particulars of the issue while their peers take notes. Between each round students have a "strategizing" minute, where they talk to their team, regroup, and send new representatives into the circle.
This packet includes: a teacher preparation sheet, an instructional sheet for students, a reflection form, and a rubric to score the discussions.
