Have students practice hearing the difference between the soft c /s/ and hard c /k/ sound. Students read each word. If it contains a soft c (followed by e, i,y), they color in the box. If it is a hard c (followed by a, o, u), they leave it blank. Once all boxes have been colored in, a message will be revealed. The message is the letter C, followed by "Y" "I" and "E", to serve as an additional reminder of when "C" makes the /s/ sound.
All words correlate with the Orton -Gillingham Phonic First curriculum.
