Product Description
The Dirt Digger News is the third in the Earth Science Newspaper series that can be used during an Earth Science Unit. (Any of these newspapers can be used on their own or as a group!) This soil newspaper encourages children to write about the 3 types of soil (loam or topsoil, clay, and sand), how soils are compared (particle size, texture, and color), what humus is, and they also get to draw a diagram of the layers of soil and pictures of what a plant would look like if it was grown in loam, clay, and sand. The format of the newspaper leaves room for you to decide exactly what your children include in the different sections. You could also use this newspaper as an end of soil unit assessment or hall display. This newspaper is an informational writing that directly connects to 3rd grade (ELACC3W2), 4th grade (ELACC4W2), and 5th grade (ELACC5W2) Common Core Writing Standards. The paper is printed as 2 pages, but put together to make one large one-sided newspaper. Thanks, Laure Esters
