Through this activity, students will brainstorm about and gain understanding of how a solar eclipse works. It is perfect for a last minute lesson on the solar eclipse... little prep needed!
A powerpoint guides student groups in brainstorming about solar eclipses and then a visual helps them understand why the moon can block the sun, which is larger, and why only parts of Earth experience a full eclipse. The powerpoint leads students in thinking, discussing, and drawing a diagram with their groups based on their own ideas.
A PDF lesson guide is provided for the teacher. It goes with the powerpoint slides and has additional questions to get students thinking.
This is a simple lesson meant for students from elementary to high school, especially if they will get to experience the solar eclipse!
