On August 21, 2017, the United States is going to experience a SOLAR ECLIPSE. Why should the Science teachers have all the fun? In this lesson, students will do brief research on the solar eclipse and then use the contrasting dark/light images to study JUXTAPOSITION. This lesson includes a FIVE page handout that will energize your entire class period!! Students will research, listen to and analyze the song "Total Eclipse of the Heart", work with peers on a juxtaposition assignment and end with a personal writing/drawing assignment. This activity is perfect ANY time of the year, but extra special on August 21!! Give it a try!
