On August 21, 2017, the first total solar eclipse in 38 years to be seen in the U.S. will happen. This close reading activity would be the perfect way to learn about and prepare for this important day in history.
These close readings will promote more meaningful interactions with the text. They are written as short, high-interest texts so students will be motivated to read the text multiple times. I have included 3 different articles, written at 2 levels that stretch from 3.9 to 4.3. Each article includes an activity page for the second read and the third read.
It is perfect for whole group, guided reading, centers, and even homework, all with differentiation built in.
