After all the hype - and maybe some nervousness for us teachers responsible for 20 sets of eyeballs - the solar eclipse of 2017 has passed us. Instead of it being only a memory, let your kiddos share this once in a lifetime experience through their eyes in a reflection piece and craft!
Most of the kids will forget what the day was life eventually, but writing down their experience is a way to hold onto it for years to come. Plus, the cute little eclipse craft is a sure way to get your kids excited for writing and your principals impressed with a cute and educational bulletin board.
Students write their experience of the eclipse through their eyes, and then illustrate a picture to accompany their writing in the sunglasses frames. You can choose to add a self portrait, or leave the sunglasses the way they are. Either way, it'll be a hit!
Also included is a brainstorming web to recall their experience and writing graphic organizer to get thoughts organized. Print out the words and cute moon and sunglasses clipart, and have a bulletin board ready to light up the hallways or classroom walls!
Didn't get to experience the solar eclipse, but are teaching about them?
You can still download this too, since there is a generic writing template not dated with the Solar Eclipse on August 21st, 2017.
