This project was originally created from a simple student question when talking about Jupiter as a "Failed Sun", “Could we live on Pluto if Jupiter were a sun?” From this question came this lesson project. Since students in middle school had a good understanding of the planets and the solar system it didn’t make sense to do another planet project that involved facts about each of the eight planets. With this project students need to think creatively based on what they already know about the solar system. Now, we have changed things and want to know what would happen in a binary solar system? In the end, you are asking them to think about the consequences of an additional sun in the solar and create a model accordingly. This leads to much higher levels of understanding of this topic. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
