Solar System to Scale Project and Planetary Weight Activity are great activities that connect science and math. In this activity, your students will scale down the distance of the planets in km to cm. This is great decimals connection where your students will divide by the powers of ten (or just use a calculator).
When finished, the students will then create a scaled down model of our solar system which will demonstrate the vast distance between the planets and the sun. Planet cut-outs included.
The second activity allows your students to calculate the weight of a person on various planets, moon, and sun. This is another great math/science connection in which your students will multiply with decimals.
