Product Description
These setting analysis activities (part of my Soldier's Heart Novel Unit Bundle) will help your students describe, analyze, and illustrate each setting in Gary Paulsen's Civil War novel Soldier's Heart. There are ten setting worksheets, focusing on the unique significance of each of the ten chapter settings - from Charley's home in Minnesota to the army camp to the locations of several battles.
The first page is a generic page, with a blank for the chapter number and questions that can apply to any chapter setting; you can let students choose a chapter and analyze the setting of their choice. Pages 2-11 are specific to each chapter of Soldier's Heart.
These worksheets can be used as reading comprehension checks, quizzes, group classwork activities, or whole-group discussion prompts.
The settings of this novel are so crucial to understanding its characters and themes. I hope you and your students enjoy and benefit from this set of activities!
