Do you ever wonder if students understand how to apply solfege labels to the music that they hear? This Smart Notebook quiz can be used to check student understanding of this concept as it relates to major and minor tonalities, as well as duple and triple meters.
There are many, many different sets of rhythm syllables in use today. I have included slides representing both Kodaly and Gordon syllables. Feel free to edit these syllables to accommodate your own practice.
Although there are only 12 questions included in this file, it is not intended that they be used as one test, but rather two-four at a time as formative assessments or exit tickets. The questions are multiple choice format to allow for the use of clickers or Smart Response devices. (I hate to grade papers!)
If clickers are not an option for you, please check out the "paper clip" attachments tab for a bonus PDF file containing printable Exit Tickets.
Tap on the pencil graphic to reveal the correct answer! This feature allows you to use the file for practice with the whole group.
