When you use direction in conjunction with solfege, your students get another perspective of how melodic pitches sound higher or lower. Use movement as a conductor in this fun solfege singing activity! The "conductor" dances from one corresponding colored spot to another as the class members follow along, singing various solfege patterns. The set includes all chromatic solfa, so your students in 1st grade-college can participate in this activity. It is excellent for encouraging reluctant participants in singing activities because they can be the conductor. It helps develop ear training through interval practice, creates new ways of watching a conductor, and is a different way to introduce new intervals. Students learn the left/right patterns of high and low in music. Students can also work in groups with this activity at centers and videotape their progress to upload to SeeSaw and other platforms.
- One octave of solfege syllables, colored-coordinated to match Boomwhacker colors.
- One octave of solfege syllables in black and white in case you choose to use colored paper.
