This Awesome Science Bundle was designed to develop young students' conceptual understanding of the concept of two of the states of matter that they can easily relate to - Solids and Liquids.
There are 10 lessons in this unit, some of which are sold on TpT as separate lessons.
Lesson 1—Nature’s collectibles*
Lesson 2—Exploring wood and metal solids
Lesson 3—Exploring solid fabrics
Lesson 4—Why don’t we have paper spoons?*
Lesson 5—Shapes of solids and constructing structures
Lesson 6—Changing solids: investigating ice melting*
Lesson 7—Changing solids: how fast will it melt?*
Lesson 8—Changing solids: burning, dissolving, reacting
Lesson 9—What shape is a liquid?*
Lesson 10—Which liquid will pour the fastest?*
* lessons already on TpT as separate lessons
This unit has bundled these lessons along with new lessons to make this a really awesome unit of inquiry work.
The lessons are accompanied by worksheets, lab reports, and homework assignments, which can be made into a Workbook - see the PREVIEW.
Also included are PowerPoint slides for selected lessons, vocabulary words for each lesson, and station cards where needed.
Each of the ten lessons are planned in detail for instructors as well as teacher candidates (trainee teachers) to follow with ease.
Although these lessons are designed to be implemented in 2nd to 4th grade classrooms, they may also be used in 5th grade classes as review lessons, if students at that grade level lacks conceptual understanding of matter.
In addition to students developing a solid foundation knowledge of SOLIDS and LIQUIDS, students will also develop and strengthen their inquiry skills so they will be able to test hypotheses, plan fair tests, make predictions, and choose the relevant equipment to plan an investigation to answer a question.
I hope you and your students will truly enjoy exploring solids and liquids together.
