Product Description
This experiment was designed to help reinforce the strand that some solids dissolve in hot water faster in hot water than in cold water. It is aligned with Virginia SOL 1.3 and SOL 1.1 but can be used with any curriculum that includes scientific tools and investigations. My first graders love using timers to time how long it takes for the solids to dissolve. I have also done this using a giant digital timer projected onto the Smartboard. Either way, it helps students understand that hot water makes some solids dissolve faster. You could add more solids to this too.
