Conduct a parent conference that engages parents, motivates students and produces a peaceful classroom. This collaborative way of working was developed by the author, who has written ten books on solution focused therapy. By using this approach, parents feel empowered, students and teachers build better relationships and learning and behavior improves.
This conference can also be a preliminary step prior to RTI, when a teacher is concerned about a student's behavior or learning pattern. The information can also be used by principals and administrators to identify times when a child or adolescent is not misbehaving and instead, experiencing better behavior.
