This lesson helps students to understand how to solve absolute value equations. Each of Dr. Q's lesson plans includes common core standards, lesson objectives, an activator or do-now, a mini-lesson, a learning activity, a wrap-up activity, and a homework assignment. For this lesson plan a four-square note sheet is included. This can be filled out by the students during the mini-lesson. At the bottom of the note sheet is a silly math joke, just to make life more interesting. On the back of the note sheet are nine checkpoint practice problems (remember to print note sheet and check-point problems front-and-back, to save paper!). A three-problem "quizlet" ends the lesson, and a homework assignment tops it all off. Answer keys are included for all problems. The activator is printed two-on-a-page and the quizlet is printed four-on-a-page, which also saves paper; or you can use a document camera or overhead to project on the board, and students can use their own paper.
