Students work independently or in pairs (depending on fluency/necessary peer scaffolding) to solve nine one-step equations with integers. Problems are posted around the room. I printed mine on bright colored paper so my kids couldn't miss them!! Students may start at any equation, showing work on their recording sheet. Once students reach a solution, they look around the room to find their answer. This leads them to the next equation to be solved. If students reach a solution that is not found in the scavenger hunt, they know that they have done something wrong & should reassess their work/answer. If they get an answer that causes them to repeat a problem, they know they have done something wrong as well. Students will be guided to solve all nine equations if they solve them correctly! Can be used as a means of formative or summative assessment, or as a review!
