Gone are the days of pie charts and pictographs! Interpreting data in graphs and tables has become much more complex for our fourth and fifth graders. They need to be able to create and answer multi-step problems based on dot plots, stem-and-leaf plots, dot plots and frequency tables.
In this download there are 7 practice sheets that cover Texas Standards 4.9A, 4.9B, and 5.9A and 5.9C.
*Note: there are no scatterplots and bar graphs for the alignment to the two fifth grade TEKS. I do have a document in my store that is strictly aligned to 5.9A and 5.9C below:
Interpreting Data Activity Sheets
Students will be asked to interpret and create their own; stem-and-leaf plots, dot plots, and frequency tables as well as answer questions based on the tables.
Answer keys are provided for student self-check or teacher quick check. This document can be used for whole group lessons, small group centers, intervention, and homework or even as assessments. I use these for small group lessons and homework with my fourth and fifth grade special education students.
This document is aligned to TEK 4.9A, 4.9B, and 5.9A [represent data with bar graphs (NO BAR GRAPHS) or frequency tables and number data including sets of measurements in fractions or decimals with dot plots or stem-and-leaf plots] 5.9C [solving problems based on data in frequency tables, dot plots, bar graphs, (NO BAR GRAPHS) stem-and-leaf plots, or scatterplots (NO SCATTERPLOTS)]
