These happy little cards are perfect for those pocket charts you see your kinder (or Instagram) bestie use constantly! You probably have one hidden away in a drawer in your classroom gathering dust, and now you can use it!
Place the cards in array order(to preserve the picture) in the pocket chart and hide (no peeking!) any number of the “winner!” cards behind. As students answer correctly, they get to see what lies beneath! You can choose the reward - a bonus point, a pat on the back, bragging rights or being first in line. Big kids might act tough, but man do they love winning, too!
This activity is great as a center activity, or a whole group/team activity where everyone tries to solve on their own recording sheet! They’re perfect for small group learning or even as a set of practice problems to send home after a student has missed a day or two. I also like this for when we have about 4 minutes waiting for an assembly to start or at the very end of the day after we clean up. It’s so versatile!
