# Solving 1-Step Inequalities: Cube Game

Divide students into into groups of 2-3 (can be done individually, or in larger groups, but 2-3 is what I recommend). Each group will need page 1 and half of page 2 (the dice on page 2 are the same – these can be cut apart before hand). They should also receive at least one recording sheet. Students will first cut out and put the dice together (glue or tape works well!). If you have time, you may want to let students put the dice together one day, and use them for the activity the next day. To encourage ownership of the dice, and excitement, let students color or decorate the dice.

To play the game, students will roll each dice. Each dice has a small number in the bottom corner of each side (there are 3 dice in all). The number in the corner of the dice tells students which spot the information on that dice will fill on the recording sheet. Please view the free preview for an example.

Once students have a complete inequality, they will solve it. Note: Not all answers will be whole numbers!

They will create and solve a total of 12 inequalities for this activity. Because the problems will differ with each group, an answer key is not provided.
