Solving 2 Step Equations
When teaching students how to solve equations, I like to take it slowly and build their confidence. Because solving equations is such a pivotal part of all mathematics from Algebra 1 on, I like to give the students time to grasp the concepts before moving on.
I start with one step equations, then two step equations and finally move onto multi-step equations.
This worksheet has 18 2 step equation problems in which the students have to undo addition and subtraction first, and then either multiplication or division.
The final two questions are what I call, "Challenge Questions." These questions are meant to get them thinking about multi-step equations which we will soon be covering. They apply what we have learned previously about the distributive property to distribute an integer and then solve the remaining two step equation.
