This Solving Equations Activities Bundle includes 5 activities to help students practice solving various types of equations in a fun way. To buy individual activities follow the link on each product title.
One Step Equation Clue:
This contains 12 task cards with 3 clues on each card. Students will solve for x, y, and z on each task card using a series of one step equation clues and substitution. Operations for problems include a variety of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division equations. Most answers are integers. Answer key is included.
Solving 2 Step Equations from a Description:
This activity is designed to be completed with a partner, but includes a version for students to work independently. Each person in the pair gets either version A or version B. The corresponding problems on each person's worksheet is similar. Each student reads the description on their worksheet, writes an equation and solves it on their own. There is a section for students to check their work, so students can either use it to check their own answer, or check their partner's answer. Once both students have solved their problem, they will answer a comparison question that relates the problems on each of their papers. Each problem models a real world situation. This activity includes 6 problems, and an answer key is included.
Solving Equations with the Distributive Property:
This stations activity contains 16 questions (4 stations total). Each station contains 2 expressions for students to practice simplifying using the distributive property and combining like terms and 2 equations for students to solve using the distributive property. An answer sheet is included for students to record their answers with an answer key.
Solving Multi-Step Equations Puzzle:
This puzzle contains 9 square pieces with equations or solutions on each side of the square. Equations involve solving 2 step equations, combining like terms, and the distributive property. When pieces are correctly arranged it will spell a math word making it very easy to check.
Variables on Both Sides Equation Hunt:
This equation hunt activity has 12 equations for students to solve. Each question leads students to the next question, so students will know whether or not they got the question correct as they move from question to question. Equations also involve using the distributive property and combining like terms. An answer sheet is included for students to show their work and record their answers.
