This PowerPoint contains nine examples of solving equations. It walks through each problem listing the steps and how to check the answer. It could be used as follows:
8th grade: Use all nine examples. Examples 1-6 will be a good review of the type of solving equation problems the students should already have learned in 6th and 7th grade. Examples 7-9 progress through distributing and combining like terms as well as a proportion problem.
7th grade: Use examples 1 and 2 as review and then examples 3-6 to teach 2-step equations and distributing.
6th grade: Use examples 1 and 2 to teach 1-step equations and how to check the answer.
I hope you enjoy it! -cspellman
