Exit tickets are a quick and easy way to find out how well students have mastered a topic.
Hand them out with about 5-10 minutes left in class and have students turn them in as their "ticket" to leave class. Often you can use the time between classes to quickly check over the answers to determine how well your students did and adjust your next lesson if necessary.

I've found that not requiring students to put their name on the ticket can help to get a more honest look at what students know. Because students don't feel as much pressure, they tend to ask their friends for less help. And often they include insightful comments or questions that they might be afraid to ask otherwise.
