This partner activity was designed for a Pre-Algebra class, but would be appropriate for Algebra 1, or a review activity for more advanced course. This is a partner play worksheet (row game) for solving one and two-step linear equations with integers. The .zip file contains .pdf, .doc (Word 2003), and .docx (Word 2007) versions of the activity for both easy printing and easy modification. Students will enjoy this activity because the equations start simple, and become increasingly more difficult, allowing for early success. Teachers will enjoy this activity because it encourages students to work together to find mistakes rather than asking the teacher, "What did I do wrong?"
Directions for Students: Partner A solves only the equations in column A. Partner B solves only the equations in column B. After solving each equation, compare your answers. Even though the equations are different, the solutions will be the same. If you agree on the solution, write it in the solution box. If you disagree on the solution, work together to find the mistakes. Show all work, including the check, on a separate sheet of paper.
